Park North Development
Park North is a planned 95-acre entertainment complex, to be located southwest of the Route 143 and I-55 interchange, with a portion designed as a retail and convenience area that will support and cater to Plummer Family Park. The endeavor includes a planned golf facility with an 18-hole putting course, an upscale restaurant and a sports bar. As part of the project Sports Park Drive north would be extended until it meets Illinois 143. The extension would serve as the primary traffic access to Park North and the sports park, removing traffic currently using Ridge View and Goshen roads to access the park. A new, signalized intersection of Sports Park Drive and Blackburn Road would be part of the project, along with possible improvements to Illinois 143 west of I-55.
Ridgefield Drainage Improvements
Brewster led an American Public Works award winning project in Godfrey, IL This drainage improvement project involved installing revetment matting for erosion control on the project’s detention ponds on Ridgefield Drive. The upstream end was buried and then backfilled to grade to stop undermining of the matting, forcing the water to move across the top of the revetment mat. As the water is forced across the top of the mats, it slows the velocity of the water, preventing erosion. The matting is placed side by side and the backing material is overlapped by the next mat. The matting is then pinned to the ground securing them together. Properly installed revetment matting is an effective solution to protect high scour areas from erosion.
Dakota, IL Solar Farm
Brewster is excited to be part of the growing clean energy initiative in Illinois. We provided excavation work and pile driving for the eventual placement of solar panels on a new solar farm project in northern Illinois. Using our pile driver, we placed thousands of piles into the ground to serve as the foundation for the solar panels. These panels will absorb energy from the sun, convert it into electricity and send that electricity to the power grid for distribution and consumption throughout the state of Illinois.
Chain of Rocks Bridge
Continuing our progress on the multi-year Chain of Rocks Bridge project, our concrete processor pulverized the existing barrier wall for the eventual staged construction of roadways. The pulverized concrete will be reused as fill in the embankment on both sides of the bridge. This extensive bridge project will replace the existing 57-year-old bridge with two new structures to accommodate the expansion of I-270 to three lanes in each direction. The bridge is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
MetroLink Expansion
Brewster has partnered with several area contactors to complete the MetroLink Expansion which adds track from Scott Air Force Base to MidAmerica Airport near Mascoutah, IL. Our scope of work includes massive site preparation, moving thousands of tons of dirt, sewer placement, and access matting. Our most recent contribution to this project has been completing a causeway through a lake to allow for the eventual tract to be built. It took over 40k tons of rock to complete. The new Metro rail will not only provide additional transportation, but several new jobs and increase traffic to the local airport and potential new businesses along the way. We are proud to be part of such an important local improvement.
